The Incredible Adventures of Ike and Lucy is a story of heroism, friendship and courage created by Pirates Village in 2016 to help the families of Ike and Lucy (both of whom are affected by rare illness) with treatment costs and equipment. However, two years on and we have all become one big family; from the family and friends of Iker and Lucy to all the staff at Pirates Village who tell their tale in the live rendition of their comic every week at our hotel and, of course, all our amazing guests who have bought copies of the comic every summer since we started this fundraiser.The idea of creating the comic was based on Pirates Village wanting to help the families of Iker and Lucy in the most fun way possible, without this disturbing their day-to-day routines. It was meant as a way of making these children, who have to face challenges other children do not, feel included, special and bringing them together with other kids. During our live rendition of the comic, Ike and Lucy are the heroes of the story, helping our very own Captain Legend to beat Captain Cross and save all the other children he kidnapped to do his dirty work.

The last two years of selling the comic book at €10 each, totalling to over an incredible €14,000, has made a big difference to the lives of Ike and Lucy. Ike, who is affected by cerebral palsy, regularly joins his father on triathlons and aims to one day be able to race without needing any assistance, a dream that may be possible through everything his family has been able to get with your help: a new walking frame and trips to Madrid to see specialists about his condition.

For Lucy, affected by Joubert syndrome, her parents have been able to travel to places like Madrid and England in order to see specialists about her condition. In addition, through your help she now has better access to equipment needed to assist her on a daily basis.
