From Gran Isla Hotels we hope you had a fantastic Christmas Day with your loved ones. We hope you got everything you wanted, we hope you overindulged as Christmas calls for it and that you got spoiled silly by your parents, kids, grandparents, partner…
Personally, this is our favourite time of the Christmas season as you know it’s not over with New Year’s on the way. This means you get to feel guilt-free about pigging out, being lazy and enjoying the rest of the holidays the way you want to: taking time for yourself to figure out what you want from 2018, how you want to improve and how to have an almost stress-free year.
A stress-free year? Not possible, is it? We cannot guarantee it will be completely stress-free but we can recommend ways to make it the least stressful possible. Follow our pointers on achieving an (almost) stress-free 2018.
An early spring clean. Trust us, if you get all the clutter you have been hoarding all year round organised, you will feel less stressed and more prepared to take on the new year. Enjoy the peace of mind that comes with a tidy house to which you can come home after a long working day and relax in the organisation of it. Knowing that your little haven of tranquillity is organised the way you want it to be is the starting point for a more successful and in turn stress-free work life as well.
Try not to procrastinate. If you look back on the hours you wasted procrastinating then you will realise how unhealthy and pointless it was. Leaving something to the last minute because you didn’t want to do it when you had the time is the classic recipe for disaster when you are trying to lead a stress-free life. Yes, maybe at the time you would rather be doing other things but you will thank yourself in the long run when you don’t have to worry about it at the last second.
Visualise your end goal. And make sure it is realistic. In a world where we want everything instantly, we become a ball of stress when this is not the case. Our recommendation is that you visualise your realistic end goal and take small, gradual but frequent steps getting there. Before you know it you will be there without realising it!
Plan short breaks. We have lived our lives around the same concept since we were in nursery: do something we don’t really want to do for a treat at the end. The treat makes it all worth it. In primary school, it was to have more breaktime on the playground, in secondary school it was to be able to go on a school trip, in sixth-form it was to be able to own our first car and now, as adults, it is to be able to enjoy a well-deserved holiday away with our family, friends or partner.
If you have something to look forward to at the end of the month, then you’re less likely to get worked up about the small things. If you plan smaller breaks which are different in their own way, then you will have something new and exciting to look forward to frequently. For example, you could spoil yourself at the start of the summer season in 2017 with a romantic trip away with your partner to Hotel Piscis, in the gorgeous resort of Puerto Alcudia in Majorca. Mid-season, during the school holidays, you could bring the kids to Pirates Village so they can be in the midst of a world of fun and adventure at the best time of year. Near the end of the season you could get the best seat in the house at Tropico Playa resort as you enjoy the chill out parties on our terrace whilst enjoying the beautiful sunsets over Palmanova beach, without having anyone invading your personal space.
From all of us at Gran Isla Hotels, we wish you a very happy, stress-free New Year!
