Majorca is an island that is very proud of its culinary heritage. Combining the best flavours of Spain with its own unique island traditions, there’s so many different foods to try during your family holiday in the Mediterranean. Some of the most typical Majorcan dishes include ensaimadas, sobrasada, frito mallorquin, coca de trampo, pa amb oli… the list goes on. Whilst the people of Majorca love to show the world what their gastronomic proposals consist of, one of the creations that has come to the forefront is the Mostra de Cuines. A food show that takes place in the Southwest of this stunning natural island.
What is the Mostra de Cuines?
The Mostra de Cuines translates from Catalan literally as a Cuisine Show, which takes place twice a year in April and October. Every Friday of the month, the festival moves around the region of Calvia, covering popular destinations such as Santa Ponsa, Palmanova, Magaluf, Portals Nous, Paguera and El Toro. Where each restaurant provides a reasonably priced dining experience in the Southwest of Majorca (12-16€ per person). This includes a three course meal during Lunch and Dinner services including one drink, whilst children’s menus, gluten-free options, as well as alternative menus are also available. Last time out we looked into some of the best restaurants involved in the food festival, a great number of which have returned for the Autumn edition.
