Some of the best football players and teams in the world will soon be heading to Majorca once again. That’s right, the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona will be playing Real Mallorca in La Liga next season after the club who plays their matches just down the road in Palma, emphatically completed their promotion to the first division in an enthralling play-off final. In the 82nd minute of the second leg of the La Liga Play-off final on the 23rd June, Abdon Prats scored a beautiful 25-yard strike to put Real Mallorca 3-0 up on the night after initially losing the first match 2-0. It was stuff of fairytales. Chaos ensued, fans ran onto the pitch, the parties started and continued into a street parade where locals celebrated the team’s triumph in the streets of Palma, the island’s capital. Real CD Mallorca are back in the La Liga, the first division of Spanish football and boy, did we know about it!
Whilst the team now can take a well deserved break and regroup for the coming season, Real Mallorca will find out who they will open their 2019/20 campaign against in the next few days with the season kicking off on the 16th August. So what can we look forward to?

The Blaugrana boys of Barcelona will once again strut their stuff on the shores of Majorca, as well as the pristine white kits of the famous Real Madrid. How the players of Real Mallorca deal with the challenge of Leo Messi and Madrid’s newest galactico Eden Hazard will be determined in the coming months but we can also look forward to seeing a host of other great Spanish clubs including Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Sevilla.
