It’s been 413 years since Guy Fawkes and his comrades attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament and yet his name still has a part in modern society. We remember him just like we remember the 5th of November. During your stay at our Pirates Village Apartments, we wouldn’t want you to miss out on any of the thrills and spills, so we are providing you with the low-down on how you can still have a great time this Bonfire Night with your yearly dose of gunpowder, treason and plot.
Bonfire night in the UK could be described as one of the party’s of the year. It’s very much a tradition that once a year, as the leaves are beginning to fall from the trees, we wrap up warm, get down to the local bonfire, watch the guy on the top be set alight and then get a sore neck from watching the resulting firework show.
In general, the Spanish are not ones to shy away from pyrotechnics and fires in public places. They provide us with some fantastic festivities including the fiesta of San Juan, held every 23rd June where the locals jump over small bonfires on the beach, Las fallas, the valencian festival where they create massive models of all the faults in society and set them alight in the street, and closer to our home in Majorca, we have Sant Antoni, the festival where demons terrorise the streets with flaming torches and fireworks held above their head.

Enjoy the fireworks set to light up the Magaluf skies along the Mediterranean coast.
Although Bonfire night does not have the same historical references outside of the UK, the Spanish have embraced the celebrations in their own way. On Saturday 3rd November, Calvià town hall have organised an exciting event called la Noche de Fuego (The night of fire). It starts at 18:00 until 23:00 with free entry for tourists and locals alike. The festivities will take place in Magaluf meeting at Aqualand Parking. It’s the perfect night out for all of the family with plenty going on. There’s a big bonfire, a range of food and drink, lot of entertainment including live stage performances, childrens attractions and not forgetting a firework display.
